Step 32: Router Mount Part 3

I'll bet that you didn't think that the router mount for a CNC machine would take so long to build. This is probably why I waited so long to build it. All of the parts of this CNC machine is so easy to build. The router mount really is much more complex with all of the curves and the need to mount a pretty heavy router is not that easy, but don't let that scare ya'.

In this video, I'm installing the back part of the router mount. This piece will be sandwiched between the z-axis bearing supports. This will not only serve as the mount for the router, but it stabilizes the z-axis bearings as well. Read More...

Hello -
Doesn't using two screws to secure the router mount allow for the possibility of rotation of the router? Are you compensating for this in a future post?

Thanks
Chris

Thank you Chris... You are correct and it is compensated in a later post. An image can be seen of the router mount phase 1 at step # 30.

There will be another piece connecting the front of the router which will give the router a total of four screws to hold it securely. Two screw will have a shearing force (force applied laterally to the screw) which is the stongest method and the two front screws will have a tensile force which will be compensated by using two nuts to hold it securely.

I greatly appreciate these types of comments which keeps me on guard to any posible problems to the machine. Keep em' commin'. Thanks,

Patrick
